Text Box: Announcements:
Our August 13th meeting is going to be about the American Belarussian Relief Organization to which we recently gave gift cards for children’s clothes and supplies.

Then on August 27 get ready for the Watermelon and Corn-on-the-Cob dripping in butter. Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish and/or dessert to be shared by all. Just like last year, we will again have a brown bag auction in which members put an item or baked good in a brown bag and the items will be auctioned off. These funds will help with our administrative costs. The goal is to have fun, so this can even be a gag gift. No program is planned because this event is just about us so there will be plenty of time to mingle around and visit with family and friends and share a laugh or two, (or maybe even three).

The last Pit Beef, Pork, Turkey and Ham Sandwich Sale will be held Saturday, August 30. This is typically a bigger event so please stop out for your last chance this year to buy some of this great food.

Plans are underway for our clubs participation in the Thurmont and Emmitsburg Community Show on September 5, 6 and 7. If you can volunteer some time during that busy weekend please contact Lions Doug or Don. Thank you!

President Robin recently announced plans to assemble a COOK BOOK. This will be a new fundraiser and plans are to have the recipes collected and the book printed in time for sales at the Thurmont-Emmitsburg Community Show in early September (or sooner). That means – we need TO GET COOKIN’ – get those recipes to Lion Robin NOW. So PLEASE, PLEASE submit those recipes - they can be typed or handwritten or in their original print – your original will be returned to you. You can submit as many recipes as you like, but we are hoping for at least 3-4 from each person. Bring your recipes to the next meeting, email them to Lion Robin at RbKee3@aol.com, or mail them to her at: Robin Keeny, 12829 Catoctin Furnace Road, Thurmont, MD 21788.

The Thurmont Lions Club meets at 6:30 pm on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the Cozy Restaurant in Thurmont.
