The Thurmont Lions Club is in the Spotlight!

The Thurmont Lions Club was the subject of the Lions International Magazine "Spotlight" feature this month. The feature discusses the membership of the club, a number of projects (including the Trolley Trail and our sandwich and other food sales), our two Leo Clubs, and several of our community activities. See the article.

Being recognized in the Lions International Magazine is an honor. The magazine is published for the 1.35 million Lions Club members in 21 languages and in 32 official editions.

Thurmont Lions Club Application Available

For many years, the Thurmont Lions Club Foundation has provided financial assistance for college attendance to Catoctin High School students in the form of scholarships. These scholarships are awarded competitively based on academic achievement, participation in activities, and financial need. The number of scholarships and the amount of each are dependent upon the degree of success of the annual Lions’ Community Birthday Calendar sales. This year the Thurmont Lions Club Foundation is awarding three one-year scholarships of $1000 each, plus The Lion Vic Jagow Scholarship--a four-year $1000 scholarship which is renewable annually providing the winner maintains an academic average of B or better.

If you are interested, please see the Application Form.

The Thurmont Lions Club Helped Replace a Leaking Roof

The home of a local family is now dry. A family, consisting of a great grandmother, a grandmother and a great granddaughter, was suffering from extensive water leaks into their kitchen and the child's bedroom. The leaks were so extensive that the child’s bedroom was unuseable and the kitchen ceiling had fallen down. A number of local groups and volunteers, including the Thurmont Lions Club, worked together to replace the leaking roof. See more.
