Help A Neighbor: Barry Glass and Family

A Neighbor Needs YOUR Help!

The Thurmont Lions Club will dedicate the profits from their final Sandwich Sale of the Season
to assist the Barry Glass family.

Please come out on Saturday, September 5, 2009 and enjoy a Pit Beef, Pork, Ham, Turkey Sandwich or Platter and show one of our neighbors that "Thurmont Cares"!

Just three short months ago, Barry Glass was working as a tow truck driver, volunteering in/around Thurmont and proud to be able to provide for his family. In the past 19 years as a tow truck driver, he never missed a day due to sickness. Then it happened...the dreaded announcement that so many people have had to deal with - cancer. Barry had surgery on May 6, 2009 to remove a tumor from his colon but the doctors were unable to remove the entire tumor and they discovered that the cancer had also spread to his liver. He is currently undergoing chemotherapy, is unable to return to work, and his insurance expired on June 30, 2009. He has applied for Social Security benefits but will not receive any funds until the end of the year. In the meantime, he is in arrears on payments for his daily/monthly necessities. The Thurmont Lions Club will use funds from the Sandwich Sale to help pay some of these outstanding bills -- it is the policy of the Lions Club to make payments directly to the billing agencies on behalf of the resident.

The Sandwich Sale will be held at Bell Hill Farm, 1-1/2 miles north of Thurmont on the west side of Route 15 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. or until sold out Saturday, September 5, 2009.

. If you are unable to attend the Sandwich Sale, you can still assist Barry Glass and his family by making your tax deductible donation payable to "TLC Foundation, Inc.", noted "For: Barry Glass Sandwich Sale" and mailing to Thurmont Lions Club, P. O. Box 306, Thurmont, MD 21788. For more information about this event, contact Lion George Bolling at 301-898-7119.

Thank you for doing your part to help a Neighbor!
