My Calendar

The Juneteenth remembrance/wreath laying will take place at Harriet Chapel on
June 19th at 6:30 pm. The mayor may be speaking, and I hope to confirm Judge
Quarrels (who is on the historical committee for Mt. Vernon). Elizabeth Comer
and Rev. Smith from Harriet Chapel will also be speaking. A drummer will lead us
in procession from Harriet Chapel to the area overlooking the grave sites. We will
place the wreaths, Scout Troop 270 will read off the names of those interred with a
ringing of a bell for each name then a moment of silence followed by closing
comments. Light refreshments will be served at Harriett Chapel.
